When I was a new investor just starting out things were a lot different. Online investing had not yet been born. You had to use full service investment companies, and you were assigned a professional broker. The fees compared to today were enormous. The European Investment Bank is much better than Commercial Banks as it loans out large sums of money to cover 50% of projects which satisfy its criteria. It does not charge interest rates which makes it a very attractive place from which to loan money. However the projects must satisfy certain criteria and a limitation is imposed on both repayment time and commencement of the project.

You have a hierarchy system within the European Investment Bank. The highest level is the Board of Governors, followed by the Board of Directors, both of which include members from the member states, and followed by the Managing Committee with the day-to-day running of the Bank, and the Audit Committee which checks and balances the conduct of the European Investment Bank.
